Rev. Samantha L. Drennan
Pastor Samantha is passionate about the church being the instrument that does God's work in the world. Social ministry and outreach is very important to her - as it says in Matthew 25:40, "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me." She loves teaching learners of all ages, particularly the more "troublesome" texts of the Bible. How we read the Bible informs how we treat others, and how we treat others informs how we read the Bible.
Background: A second career clergy person, Pastor Samantha began classes at the Lutheran Theological Seminary At Philadelphia in August of 2007, and spent the next four years taking classes and doing field work, including a chaplaincy internship at Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenberg and a year of internship at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (Glen Rock, NJ). She graduated from LTSP with honors in May, 2011.
Her first call was at Jerusalem Western Salisbury (JWS), a Shared Ministry congregation of the UCC and the ELCA. She served JWS as Associate Pastor for five years, before taking over as Pastor at Grace Lutheran Church in November 2016. Since 2021, she has served as an Associate to the Bishop for the Northeastern Pennsylvania Snod of the ELCA.
