Confirmation

Confirmation is a two-year educational and pastoral ministry of congregations and families, which helps a child identify more deeply with the Christian community and participate more fully in its mission.  It is not just preparation for life in the Church, but also for life itself. And, it is preparation for a ceremony called Confirmation, in which the individual affirms the promises made by their parents at their baptism. That is why it is also called Affirmation of Baptism.

The program involves both church AND family. Martin Luther wrote the Small Catechism so that parents could teach their children about the faith, not so that parents could send children to the church for an hour a week for two years in order to fill them with religion.  At Grace, we see that the mission of confirmation is a whole-family, faith-formation effort whose goal is a growing, personal, and life-long relationship with God. The goal is focused on the child, but also includes that child’s entire family.

If you have any questions about the program or wish to enroll your child, please contact the church office or Pastor Samantha.
