CREATE A CAKE

On Sunday October 8th, 2006 seventy people attended our first annual

Create A Cake Party to raise funds for our new 'Splash' educational

materials for infants and toddlers prior to coming to Sunday School.

The idea behind the event was for people to decorate cakes in one of

several categories. There were entries in a class for 12 years and

under, and a class for 13 and over. Within these classes were four categories:

Patriotic

Creative

Scariest

Funniest

People could vote for their favorite cake by placing money as small as a

penny into a dish . The cake that received the most money was declared

the winner. Each winner received a box of cake mix and a can of icing.

The Christian Education Committee planned the event complete with a meal

which included a barbecue and potato salad for a nominal price. Of course,

the dessert was cake.

One church member donated four scarecrows as door prizes. 

Thrivent provided funds to help support the event.
Because everyone seemed to have fun and it raised funds for a worthy cause,

it was suggested that we do this again next year. We raised approximately

$360 for Splash.
