Official Notice: Semi - Annual Meeting of the Congregation April 27th, 2008

This serves as official notice of the semi- annual meeting of the congregation of Grace Lutheran Church to be held on Sunday April 27th following the second service. Business to be conducted that day includes:
Election of four members to the congregation council for three year terms and the ratification of council appointments for partial terms.
Approval of roof replacement over chapel (phase 2 of 4)
The Spotlight is on........
The Parish Life Committee is the committee which plans, schedules, promotes and holds the social programs that our congregation enjoys. Activities such as our bus trip to Sight & Sound Theater last year, and our parish brunches are just some of the activities we have recently enjoyed.
This year, we have a full schedule of upcoming events! April will be busy with a Family Brunch being held at the Lehigh Lodge on Route 100 on April 20th at 12:15. There is a sign up sheet posted on the bulletin board and the cost is $5.00 per person.
April 21 is our Dine to Donate Day at Applebee's. Ten percent of your food and beverage purchase will be donated to grace when you dine at Applebee's in Trexlertown between 11:00 am and midnight if you present the invitation. Invitations are available for pickup either at Church prior to the even or see J Bryfogle at the entrance to Applebee's on April 21st.

Second of two required votes to raise the constitutional spending limit for council. In addition we will consider the written reports included in the report booklet to be mailed to members prior to the meeting.
Reminder: To vote at Congregational Meetings, a member must have communed of record (filled out a Communion Card) and contributed of record *used your offering envelope with in the current or preceding year.
Parish Life Committee
July 19th is the Iron Pigs Baseball game. Sign up soon to ensure your tickets. The cost is $9.00 per person. We will meet at Grace at 5:45 pm and car pool to the field departing at 6 pm for a 7:05 game time.
Parish Life is always looking for new ideas and new members. If you are interested, please contact P Kehm or the Church office.
Are You a History Buff?
Are you a history buff? would you like to learn more about the histories of other Lutheran congregations? IF so, consider joining the Lutheran Historical Society of Easter Pennsylvania. During Spring and Summer there are daytime pilgrimages to various churches to share their heritages. An annual "Winter Happening" features a luncheon, fellowship and an interesting presentation about the history of our area churches. The Society also supports our Seminarians who excel in Lutheran historical research. In cooperation with the Lutheran Archives Center, the Society assist congregations as they begin assembling their historical records and artifacts. "The Periodical" containing timely articles about happenings in Eastern Pennsylvania is sent to all members throughout the year. For information about membership, see the brochure on the main bulletin board in the Sunday School Wing. |
Safe Place Seminar: Avoiding Child Abuse
(See pastor's column in this month's issue on pg 2)
Our Synod and Diakon Lutheran Services are among the agencies sponsoring an all day seminar on Tuesday April 22, 20008 at Zion Maxatawny (along Rte 222) to discuss how congregations can implement safe place policies.
Pastor is planning on attending this event, and would like a few interested people to accompany him to the 9am to 4 pm seminar.
when the participants return, they will begin to teach others what they have learned and, with the guidance of the council, study how such a policy would be implemented here.
