Christmas Tree

Throughout history cut and decorated trees of all varieties
have been used in commemorations and celebrations. The
tree, being one of the highest forms of plant life, is often
used as a symbol of life itself.

The use of the evergreen as a Christmas tree is thought
to be of German origin. It is said that the great reformer,
Martin Luther, having delivered a sermon on Christmas
Eve in a nearby town returned home and stopped to
observe thousands of stars shining through the tall fir
trees. He was so inspired by the sight that he set up a fir
tree in his own home and decorated it with lighted candles
for his children to enjoy on Christmas Day.
